Building Permits

Projects in the Works? Make sure to check in to see if your project requires a Building Permit.

Building Permits are required to be submitted to the Diamondville Town Hall 7 DAYS PRIOR to the start of the project.

Any person who starts work for which a permit is required without first having obtained a permit, will pay DOUBLE the permit fee for such work.

No permit will be issued until all fees have been paid.

Building Permits will become Null and Void if work or construction authorized has not commenced with forty-five (45) days from issuance of Permit.

New Shed or Storage Container

Any detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, and similar uses, over 120sq ft are required to have a Building Permit.

New or Replacing Roof

Any installation of a new roof or the replacement of a roof requires a Building Permit, This includes Reroofing.

New Fence

Siding or New Exterior

Looking to Install a new fence? You may need a Building Permit.

A NEW Fence requires a Building Permit. 

If you are repairing a fence currently in place you do NOT need a Building Permit.

If you are replacing your siding on your home or business with similar material, you are not required to obtain a Building Permit.

If you are changing the exterior material of your home or business, you WILL need a Buiding Permit. Ex. If you are changing the exterior from siding to stucco.

Replacing, or installing a deck, balcony, or patio that is more than 30-inches above adjacent grade, exceeds 200 square feet in size, or attached to the home are required to have Building Permit.

Retaining walls over 4ft in height require a Building Permit AND Engineering.

Remodeling

Need to do some upgrades? Keep in mind if you are changing any structural elements, installing a wood fireplace or stove, changing electrical or plumbing, you will need a Building Permit. 

New cabinets, paint, or flooring does NOT require a Building Permit.
